Our History:
The church history goes back to 1908 when the first Seventh Day Adventist arrived on the Island of Singapore. It was realized back then that without a proper church building, the spreading of the Three Angels Messages could not be successfully established on the island.
Moved with the passion for the Gospel, the Adventist Pioneer decided to purchase a piece of land at Penang Road where the first Adventist Church was built. The dedication of the church was conducted on 21 August 1909 and the church was known as the Penang Road Seventh Day Adventist Church.
There were actually three congregations worshipping in that church building in Penang Road. One group used English as the medium of communication, another the Chinese dialects, and the third the Malay language.
As the church grew it then separated into three different congregations located at three different places on the island of Singapore. The Malay speaking congregation moved to 730 Dunman Road, the Chinese speaking church moved to 297 Thomson Road, while the English speaking congregation decided to purchase the Balestier Road Community Church at 120 Balestier Road and then moved into this new location. The new church at Balestier Road was dedicated on 19 January 1952.
Since then, Balestier Road. SDA Church was established and continues growing. Many pastors have come and gone, and different people from many generations have filled the church pews but the passion and commitment of the Gospel continues as part of every church member’s life.
The church commemorated its 58th Birthday in 2009 with a humble celebration, and is looking forward for many more great years to come in the Service of the Lord Jesus.
